Our E.C.O.’s
What We Believe & Where We Stand
At Windwood, we value the unity of the Body of Christ as we seek to live Christ-centered lives, both individually and as a family of faith. To do that, we need to be clear about what we consider to be essential, what we name as our convictions based on those essentials, and what we identify as opinions. With respect to “Convictions” and “Opinions,” Christians of good conscience may disagree without losing our community connection with one another. “Essentials,” however, define who we are and require agreement to function in the ministry of our church. Essentials: These are our core theological tenets. They are the principles on which our faith is built. Essentials cannot be compromised.
Convictions: Our Convictions are not merely ideas we hold, but beliefs that hold us. They inform how we serve in ministry to the community and members; therefore, they deserve the fullest support our consciences allow.
Opinions: These are beliefs that we hold as being proper, but which we recognize may fall in the category of taste, personal preference, or subjective experience. Opinions are important, but they should not divide us. Rather they are the evidence of the wonderful variety that God intended in His creation and His people. Unity is not uniformity. The body is a unity of diverse organs. That is a strength, not a weakness.
